BUILT AROUND AN IDENTITY
Most neighbourhood salons look like most neighbourhood salons. Pharaoh doesn't. The name comes from a room — a polished gold Tutankhamun mask mounted on a black wall framed by a gold Greek-key border, with the word PHARAOH in gold engraved capitals above it. It is a genuinely distinctive interior, and it is the reason the business has a name at all.
The main salon is bright, considered, and warm — white walls meeting black-and-gold geometric feature panels, a row of ring-lit circular LED mirrors receding down the length of the room, black leather styling chairs, a royal-blue velvet tufted ottoman on dark timber, a gold honeycomb mirror pillar, and a green moss wall that catches the light. The room itself is the strongest thing on the business card.

Pharaoh's reputation on Sydney Road is built by two people.
Shilpa
Shilpa's work is the signature that runs through this gallery — colour transformations that are dramatic, precise, and not afraid of a statement. Her specialities include colour, grey blending, and keratin treatments, and her Instagram presence (@shilpa_hairstylist90 — the salon's own account) documents the range: icy platinum blondes, vivid green and blue fashion colour, and ash-balayage lobs that hold their tone. The before-and-afters in the gallery are the best introduction.
Amit
Amit works alongside Shilpa on hair, with a particular depth in the colour and keratin services that Pharaoh is known for. Together, they are the team clients name when they talk about why they keep coming back — the expertise is real, the results are visible, and the work in this gallery is theirs.
Alongside hair, the salon covers nail art and design, eyebrow threading, massage, and occasion makeup — a full-service visit in the one room. Every service starts with a conversation about what you want, which is why there is no price list on the wall: the result is discussed before you sit.

Pharaoh sits at 370 Sydney Road — one of Melbourne's most distinctive retail strips in the inner-north. The Central Coburg precinct is well-served by public transport and covers a long stretch of food, retail, and services that draws people from across Moreland and beyond.
The salon is easy to find: a gold-and-black interior visible from the street, on a strip you are probably already using.
